Allison Walker

Product Management · Data & Analytics · AI Builder

I stumbled into Product Management after years in research and data analytics, and I absolutely love it. For the past six and a half years I've been building data products at Cirium — a global aviation intelligence company — working at the nexus of product, engineering, and data science. Canadian-Australian, now happily based in Portland, Oregon.

Now I'm looking for my next challenge: a role where I can build great products and stay at the cutting edge of technology — especially at the intersection of AI and real-world user problems.

Six and a Half Years at Cirium

A career arc that went from data analyst to Senior PM across $24M in ARR.

  1. Sep 2022 – Present Now Diio · Trips & Waivers · FlightStats

    Senior Product Manager

    Cirium · Portland

Promoted after eight months as PM. Now leading two full product suites and running discovery for the Innovation team focused on AI-driven airline workflow solutions. The scope keeps growing — and so does the complexity I love to untangle.

    • Aviation analytics platform: $17M ARR, 400+ customers, 2,000+ users
    • Traveller management suite: $7M ARR, 50+ customers
    • Built AI copilot agents to automate discovery and reporting workflows, saving 15+ hours/week
    • Maintained regular customer touchpoints through moderated and unmoderated design tests and discovery interviews
    • Established a cross-suite Win/Loss program from scratch — stakeholder buy-in through customer interviews
    • Lead product discovery for Innovation team: customer research, prototypes, and investment cases
  2. Jan 2022 – Sep 2022 Signals

    Product Manager

    Cirium · Portland

My first true PM role — owning the roadmap for Signals, an aviation analytics data product. This is where I learned to make hard prioritisation calls, run structured discovery, and turn customer interviews into a roadmap that engineering could actually build.

    • Owned re-platforming roadmap balancing customer needs, tech debt, and platform constraints
    • Used SQL and Python to quantify user behaviour and friction points, directly shaping roadmap priorities
    • Ran user and non-user discovery interviews to define and validate new feature requirements
    • Prototyped derived datasets with technical experts to improve customer decision-making workflows
  3. Jan 2021 – Jan 2022 Diio

    Product Owner

    Cirium · Portland

After a stint as Scrum Master, I transitioned fully into the product discipline as Product Owner on the Diio re-platform initiative. I learned backlog management, sprint delivery, and what it really means to translate business goals into engineering work — and what happens when you don't.

    • Managed the backlog and sprint pipeline for a complex legacy re-platforming effort
    • Acted as translator between technical constraints and product goals across geographically distributed teams
    • Drove team velocity, managed capacity, and removed blockers across delivery cycles
  4. Jan 2020 – Jan 2021 Nexavia

    Senior Data Analyst

    Cirium · Portland

My entry point into the Cirium world. Embedded as a cross-functional analytics partner within a product and engineering team, I moved from pure analysis into the messy, fascinating work of building a product — and discovered I wanted to do more of it.

    • Validated data and business logic for processing pipelines to ensure accuracy and explainability of outputs
    • Investigated new product features with emphasis on model validation for predictive analytics services
    • Bridged the gap between engineering and product, translating data findings into actionable priorities

Before Cirium

  • Developed new business through building and expanding client relationships
Jan 2014 – Sep 2016

Consultant & Deputy Account Manager

Forethought · Melbourne

International market science consultancy. End-to-end client management across 10+ banking and finance clients — scoping, delivery, and stakeholder management. Where I learned to communicate complex analytical thinking to non-technical audiences.

  • Managed the CX Improvement program for the firm's highest-value client ($1M+ engagement)
  • Supported a team of five consultants: resourcing, quality reviews, training, and P&L
  • Translated complex quantitative methodologies for C-suite and non-technical stakeholders

About

After graduating from the University of Melbourne, I spent my early career in quantitative market research — cutting my teeth in data analytics at consultancies in Melbourne. Then I made the move to Barcelona to complete a Master's in Big Data Solutions. That combination of research rigour and data fluency is what I bring into every product decision. I arrived in Portland in 2019, joined Cirium, and found my calling.

Outside of work I'm a keen hiker, an enthusiastic home cook who treats recipes as loose suggestions, and an amateur sewist who makes her own clothes. I live with my husband, a very sweet little boy, and a very silly dog.
